… be inspired
Riverwood Gardens is a garden destination located between Durham and Hanover in the heart of West Grey. After several years in a rental property, we purchased our current location in January of 2015 and began sculpting gardens from a bare landscape. Ranging from high, dry and sandy, to low areas that are prone to flooding and never dry out, the gardens showcase durable plants capable of handling diverse conditions. As the gardens have expanded and evolved, they have aided in attracting and providing a haven for many different species of birds and other pollinators. Extensive display gardens are designed to inspire, featuring more than 100 different species of woody plants, hundreds of varieties of daylilies and hostas, and one of the largest conifer and peony collections in Grey and Bruce counties, as well as Japanese maples, rhododendrons and hydrangeas. Stroll through the gardens, listen to the birds, and step into another world!
Riverwood also features a garden centre specializing in newer, uncommon and hard to find perennials, trees and shrubs, offering distinctive selections that are sure to impress. We are passionate about landscapes, and believe that gardens should reflect an individual’s personality, while offering beauty and inspiration year-round. Whether you are looking for a private garden consultation, a specimen tree that offers jaw-dropping beauty in every season, dwarf conifers, work-horse perennials or the hottest new hydrangeas, we have or can source the plants you’re looking for. Plus, almost every plant we carry is already planted in the gardens, providing guests the opportunity to see how a plant performs, while allowing us to evaluate what does well and what may need extra care.
We invite you to visit Riverwood, find your Eden, and be inspired!
